He Fought All of Hell, For Me
Jesus was crucified and three days later he rose from the grave.
What powerful images are invoked by all the stories and music derived from these few passages of scripture. Take a moment and really think about it.
He was murdered in the most atrocious way. He hung on a cross he was nailed to. He bled. He was coherent. He knew what was happening. He had a moment of human fear when he asked it to be taken from him. He obeyed his Father when he was told no. He suffered in anguish. The sky was rolling. The earth was still and quiet. The sobbing of women and the caw of birds could be heard. Even the soldiers eventually showed remorse. The smells of dirt, blood, and sweat flew on the slight breeze.
Jesus looked to heaven and he said, “It is done”. Then he died.
Reasons to Love My Adult Kids
Our adult children look at us with question. They shake their heads and smile. They laugh at us. They sometimes make fun of us. Above all else, they don’t understand one vital aspect of our life together.
We have never had time alone in our marriage. We are having so much fun.
We had our first child right away. Then, every other year, another baby came bouncing along. We graduated the youngest one a few months ago. It was a long road, going from babies to adults. They now have their own interests, apartments, houses, cars, kids, and dogs.
There are four of them, so often in our marriage, we have felt outnumbered. But now we feel FREE.
Marriage Therapy: Building a Family Table
Remember when I shared my husband and I refurbishing a vintage camper?
Doing projects together is no joke. It sometimes puts both of you in awkward situations. It makes you learn new skills and problem solve together. Maybe it will cause you to carry deodorant everywhere you go, or a first aid kit.
Occasionally the projects are very stressful, and you have to know your partner in order to complete them. Being intuitive to the needs of your spouse is an asset. If you don’t know if you have this gift, a project will be the best place to figure it out.
Trap Sins and Gods Revealing Words
Every morning, I fix myself a steaming cup of java and settle on the couch to write. One morning I woke up with clear words in my mind. It was as if someone had spoken them directly. I wrote four complete pages on a topic I hadn’t considered before. When I finished we headed to church for coffee, Sunday school, and worship.
During the worship hour, I had a moment when I almost fell off my seat. I have a terrible poker face, so the shock was obvious to those around me. It took me a second to snap back to the moment.
